Water Testing Kits

A water testing kit is a small, premade collection of laboratory materials that allow for testing the water used in brewing for major factors that impact the taste and quality of the final product beer. Water testing kits are affordably priced and allow for quick and convenient in-house water quality testing. Since water is a large component of beer, and water is involved at several stages in the brewing process, consistent water quality is key. Comprehensive kits are available to test for chloride content, sulfate content, alkalinity, water hardness caused by calcium and magnesium, pH, temperature, dissolved solids, and dissolved oxygen. During a typical brewing sampling plan, water test kits are used to test water quality prior to the mash and lauter phases.
