Specific tools are needed to analyze the samples taken during the sampling process. Select one of the tools below to learn more about it, including when and where it is used during the Sampling Process.

The Mash Bath

A mash bath is a water bath with automated regulation of bath temperature and distinct compartments for continuous sample mixing. In the context of brewing, a mash bath is used during the malt phase to procure available extract, soluble extract, and final extract from brewer’s grains. In the mash bath, ground malt from a disk mill is mixed with a defined ratio of water and heated to specified temperature with mixing. In the mash bath, the enzymes that work on the brewer’s grains to convert malt into sugar are allowed to work on their most efficient temperatures through the mash bath’s ability to hold steady temperature and mix.
