Management of Quality Control Data in a Multiple Plant Brewery. D. D. Brumsted, Carling National Breweries, Inc., Baltimore, MD 21224. J. Am. Soc. Brew. Chem. 36:0168, 1978.
A brewery with multiple plants generates as many as 1,000 quality control values during one week of production. By selecting and reporting only the values that are out of specification, the numbers can be condensed quickly to a manageable report for distribution to those who require the information. These values are sent from the plants by teletypewriter exchange, summarized at corporate headquarters, and reported to appropriate production personnel. The mechanics of the system can be readily adapted to a computer program.
