Nominated Awards
Nominations from ASBC members are accepted through March 31 of each year (except for years when the World Brewing Congress takes place) for the following awards:
The Award of Distinction acknowledges individual ASBC members who have made an exceptional lifetime achievement in the science of brewing.
The Honorary Life Member award is reserved for retired ASBC members who have exhibited exceptional long-term service to the Society within elected or appointed positions. Past Presidents of ASBC are automatically bestowed Honorary Life Membership.
Charlie Bamforth Student Travel Grant
In recognition of his years of service to the brewing industry, the ASBC, and his students around the globe, the American Society of Brewing Chemists is proud to announce the creation of the Charles Bamforth Student Travel Grant. The grant recognizes Dr. Bamforth’s teaching, research, and publications by providing a contribution to young researchers. The travel grant will be presented to ASBC student members whose abstract(s) have been the highest rated in the review and selection process for the ASBC Meeting. Recipients of this travel grant will receive complimentary registration to the ASBC Meeting.
Best Paper and Best Method Awards
The Eric Kneen Memorial Award is presented to authors(s) of the outstanding original research paper in the Journal of the ASBC.
The JASBC Review Paper Award is presented to authors(s) of the outstanding review paper in the Journal of the ASBC.
Established in 2017, the Chaz Benedict Technical Committee Method Award is presented to the ASBC subcommittee chair or split between the subcommittee chair and original authors of the work that submitted the best method that was successfully submitted for publication in the ASBC Methods of Analysis (MOA).
