Utilizing advanced maintenance practices and information
technology to achieve maximum equipment reliability and process optimization.
PAUL LANTHIER and Ron Thomas, Ivara Corporation, 935 Sheldon Court, Burlington,
Ontario L7L 5K6.
Advanced maintenance practices have helped numerous world-class manufacturers improve equipment reliability while reducing the overall cost of maintenance. Leveraging off these developments Ivara has implemented the methodology and software tools needed to migrate these proven, successful practices to the Brewing Industry through a technology transfer partnership. By employing RCM analysis, Predictive Maintenance Needs Assessment, Criticality Analysis and Equipment Hierarchy Development we help reduce maintenance costs by improving the efficiency of maintenance processes from work order planning and scheduling to MRO inventory and purchasing. The solution collects equipment condition values, diagnoses the overall condition of the equipment and proactively identifies the maintenance required to prevent an equipment failure. This identification of the right maintenance effort at the right time improves the effectiveness of maintenance increasing equipment reliability and reducing operating costs. This Technical Paper outlines some of our current projects describing the implementation stages, the methodology and technologies used and the results achieved and anticipated.
