Autoclaved barley kernels or malt kernels and their broths increased yeast sporulation when added to Kleyn's medium. Barley kernel powder, malt extract, wort, or beer in Kleyn's medium also had some influence on yeast sporulation. Based on these findings, several new yeast sporulation media were developed using Kleyn's medium as a base.
